Even now, meeting people makes me happy. However, at the same time, I wonder if people are curious about my current condition.
The last moment I remember is thinking I needed to shower because I was so cold, and that I should tell my son, “My head hurts.” But after that thought, I have absolutely no memory of almost 20 days. I don’t know what happened during that time, but fragments are slowly coming back to me.
My father’s face comes to mind. It was a place so utterly silent, it almost felt like heaven. Only trees were visible, and there was no speech, no sound. Sometimes it felt like I was talking to my father, but I can’t remember what we talked about. What’s certain, though, is that my father seemed happy. He kept praying. Perhaps he was joyful that I was alive and hadn’t died.
Even these days, that scene suddenly comes to mind: a large tree, and silence. What comes to mind again is another large tree. In front of it, my heart, too, becomes strangely silent.
