I’ve been discharged from the hospital,
and now I’m staying at my mother-in-law’s house.
It feels so good to see all of my family again.
Just seeing everyone in front of me warms my heart.
It’s truly comforting to be around people again.
One thing that’s different is that
my hair is very short now.
During my time in the hospital,
both while working and while receiving treatment,
my head remained shaved.
Since the injury, I’ve kept that look.
My mother-in-law and father-in-law are very kind.
My brother-in-law, his wife, and the children all welcomed me warmly.
Being with family really puts my mind at ease.
But there is one thing that’s been a little hard—
I feel very cold.
Even though they’ve prepared a warm space at home,
and my mother-in-law gives me warm clothes and takes care of me,
I still feel cold all the time.
Maybe it’s because the hospital was always warm.
Even so, my heart feels warm.
These days, I find it interesting when people talk to me.
“Do you remember this?”
“What was it like back then?”
They keep asking me things.
And I think I remember.
In my mind, everything feels clear.
I don’t feel like anything is wrong.
But the more they ask,
the stranger I feel.
I keep saying, “I remember.”
But as time goes on,
I start to realize something.
Back then, I believed I remembered everything.
But now I understand—
many of the things I thought I remembered
were actually things I couldn’t recall very clearly.
At that time,
I truly believed I knew everything.
But now,
I can admit that I didn’t.
