While I’m home, people often contact me. I could go meet them, but then my wife would have to come along. I think it’s something I can do on my own, but my parents come to watch, or my wife has to record my condition and stay by my side. I vaguely sense that even harder trials await me from now on. Every single day will be a tough fight. There will be many times when thoughts of wanting to die will overwhelm me. I know these difficult moments are coming, but I still don’t know their depth.
When people visit to say hello, when friends express their relief, and especially when they offer money, I’m truly grateful. On the other hand, I also think, “Why should I receive this money?” or “I’m not dead, so why are they giving me money?” I’m thankful, but I strongly wish I could return it. However, my wife told me to accept it with an open heart, considering the great pain I’ve endured and the feelings of our family.
It’s good to see that people are consistently reaching out, even if just a little. The warm hearts of those who haven’t forgotten me and come to visit are a great comfort. They are becoming the driving force that allows me to endure this difficult time.
