The cornelian cherry trees are beginning to bloom. After finishing my studies at the hospital and heading home, I wanted to exercise more, but a chilly wind blew. Still, Dad insisted we continue. The trees around our house hadn’t shown any new shoots yet, but around the hospital, fresh green buds were already sprouting. And next to them, the cornelian cherry was slowly beginning to blossom.
I’ve never been particularly fond of or interested in cornelian cherry blossoms, but today, on my way home from the hospital, I saw them. “Wow… Thank you for showing yourself like this.” This thought suddenly came to me.
Today, after studying at the hospital, I looked at the trees and fell into a pleasant reverie. Kim Jong-gil’s poem, “

It’s as if all these people are moving solely for my sake. I remember how much my family suffered when I was first rushed to Samsung Medical Center after my injury. From the time I was utterly helpless until this very moment, as I slowly recover, I realize that it was their unwavering love and sacrifice for me that allowed me to survive.
